The Team

The primary strength of any company is in its management team. NSM’s principals Christopher Corey Smith & Rand Vossler have extensive experience in the entertainment industry. The following individuals make up the current management team:

CHRISTOPHER COREY SMITH

Chris is a producer/writer and founding partner of No Sudden Movies, LLC. Chris began his career as an actor, appearing in movies and on television, but is best known for his work in voice-over. His extensive voice acting work includes national commercials for Chrysler, Lifelock, Vizio, Toshiba, McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, and Mattel. He has voiced The Joker in the Lego videos games and movies, and has played Batman, Superman, Ninja Turtles Leonardo and Raphael, and even Luke Skywalker.

Chris is a graduate from the prestigious American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, and has been a Professional-in-residence at the UC Berkeley Department of Theater, Dance & Performance Studies. He has written and produced hundreds of audio titles and two nationally syndicated radio programs for Hollywood Entertainment Radio – The National Voice and Yesterday in the News. As a producer in theater, Chris founded and was Artistic Director of the Pacific Shakespeare Company, where he managed the production of five seasons of outdoor theater in Los Angeles.

His career in film has included work as an agent, and casting director, as well as widespread work in post production, where he’s done subtitling and quality control for A-list studio films and was post coordinator on multiple feature films for pioneer cult  producer, Charles Band during the glory days of Empire Entertainment. In 2016, he co-founded No Sudden Movies, LLC to develop and produce high-quality low budget films. IDOL THREATS will  mark his feature film debut as producer.

RAND VOSSLER

Rand is a writer/producer/director and founding partner of No Sudden Movies, LLC. Rand launched his filmmaking career with a nine-year creative collaboration with Quentin Tarantino. During this time, he contributed to the development and production of Tarantino’s first four screenplays – most notably as producer and cinematographer of Quentin’s directorial debut MY BEST FRIEND’S BIRTHDAY (1987), and co-producer of the Oliver Stone directed, NATURAL BORN KILLERS (1994).

Known for his gritty style and attention to detail, Rand built an early reputation as a script doctor, often being called upon to polish a screenplay just prior to production. Writing credits include the romantic comedy, BALLAD OF THE NIGHTINGALE (1999), and the Native American horror film, SAWTOOTH (2004). More recently,  he joined the troubled production of DEMON LEGACY a.k.a. THE HAUNTING AT FOSTER CABIN (2014) – rewrote the second and third acts of the script, then finished principal photography as the film’s director.

Rand has extensive production experience in film, television, music videos, and commercials. He spent years as head of feature development for Lewis Chessler Productions at MGM and knows what it takes to make a story work. Additional producing credits include documentaries for Anchor Bay Entertainment and Sundance Channel for the DVD releases of George A. Romero’s DAWN OF THE DEAD, Wes Craven’s THE HILLS HAVE EYES, and Peter Fonda’s 1971 directorial debut, THE HIRED HAND.

In 2016, Vossler partnered with long-time collaborator Christopher Smith and founded No Sudden Movies, LLC, a Los Angeles-based production company that is dedicated to the development and production of unique, intelligent, character-driven films. Rand will be directing NSM’s first film, IDOL THREATS – a neo-noir, dark comedy centered on a group of friends, and how far they will go to break in to Hollywood.
